Charlotte Gas Station Shooting
Charlotte Gas Station Shooting
If you have been to the Circle K gas station in northeast Charlotte on Sunday, you might have seen a woman with gunshot wounds. She is not the only victim in the shooting. Another man was also shot. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The incident started as a verbal dispute.
However, that dispute turned into a physical one. A man armed with an AK-47 automatic gun pulled out the weapon and began shooting. It is unknown why. Police are still looking for the suspect. They also aren’t sure how the shooting could have been prevented.
The shooting at the gas station occurred just before 3 a.m. and the first caller was a Charlotte firefighter. The injured were transported to a trauma center. An officer was sent to the scene as a precaution. One victim was killed and another was in critical condition.
Investigators are now trying to find the person who filmed the moments leading up to the shooting. Jadeja said he was working nearby when he heard a car crash. But he didn’t want to film the incident. He didn’t want to do it on social media. And he wasn’t aware that it was illegal to do so. Rather, he just wanted to record the moment.
Several vehicles were involved in the incident. Two of the cars also were shot. In addition, a black Mazda 6 had bullet holes in its windshield. Customers started screaming when the cars were hit. There was also a fight between two men outside the SUV.
According to police, the suspects left the scene in vehicles. One vehicle was occupied by one of the victims. Another vehicle was occupied by a woman. Both vehicles were chased by other cars before the police arrived.
The other two people in the car were reportedly not seriously injured. However, the driver of the vehicle occupied by the woman was not able to survive his injuries.
According to investigators, the shooting may have been preventable. The property owner should have monitored their security cameras. Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Homicide Unit. CMPD is investigating this shooting and turning over evidence to the district attorney’s office.
In the meantime, a lawyer for the family of a man killed in the shooting is calling for police to release the video. He believes it could lead to further charges. His firm is questioning the security at the gas station.
Kedar Jahari Rogers, a 16-year-old teen who is charged with murder, is considered a juvenile. He has a criminal record for possession of a firearm and a drug offense. He was also convicted of assault on a female.
In the meantime, the owner of the gas station has been asked to upgrade the security of their property. They must be able to protect their customers from any harm that may come to them.
Hopefully, the video will give people a better idea of what happened on Monday. Although the police are not releasing any details about the shooting, locals are concerned about daytime shootings in public spaces.
