Who is Zac Posen?

Zac Posen is renowned for his distinctive designs and has designed dresses for Rihanna, Demi Moore, Cardi B and Princess Eugenie of York. Additionally, he was awarded the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Swarovski’s Perry Ellis Award in Womenswear.

He has served as a judge on Project Runway since 2013. A New York native, he was raised in the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. He attended Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn, an arts-focused school that emphasizes design.

At 16 years old, he was accepted into Parsons School of Design’s precollege program and then Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design at 18. While still in college, he launched his own fashion line called House of Z and created his first collection while still in school.

His collections were featured in many high-end department stores and his pieces can be purchased through Zac Posen’s website. He has collaborated with brands like Monogram, MAC Cosmetics, Target and Delta as well as working on other projects alongside many celebrities.

As a child, he would often dress up his dolls and craft outfits for them due to his talent in sewing. He recalls making an expensive dress for a friend which she absolutely adored.

He was immensely proud of his work and often showed it off to family members. His creative flair had led him to pursue a career as an interior designer; furthermore, he enjoyed staying involved in all activities that took place.

His designs were highly sought-after among celebrities, making him a huge success.

However, he ran into major difficulties with the press. He was accused of overcompensating and lacking a coherent vision, which caused him a lot of issues and eventually led to the demise of his company.

His mother, a successful businesswoman, was able to support him financially. She connected him with brands like Target and Saks so that his label remained profitable.

She also provided him with a $15-per-day allowance, enabling him to set up his first atelier in their living room.

He spent three to four hours each day working on his collection, then spent the remainder of the time in his office’s marketing, PR and business rooms.

He was an incredibly hard worker and never stopped working. His network in the industry was vast, and he worked diligently to maintain his name’s success.

Now he has a team of people working with him. A stylist and designer assist him in creating his collections.

When not designing clothes, he enjoys cooking. He uses home-grown vegetables in his recipes and loves spending time with his two dogs.
