Pink At The Grammys 2010

Pink at the Grammys 2010

The Grammy Awards have long been known for featuring some of the most iconic music performances ever seen at an award show, and each year brings us memorable moments such as Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech or Wu-Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard interrupting Shawn Colvin’s Song of the Year performance with a shoutout to their group (which certainly paid off!). However, nothing tops Pink’s gravity-defying performance of “Glitter in the Air.”

She donned a sparkly bodysuit before strapping herself into an aerial tissue harness and performing stunning acrobatics above the Staples Center stage, captivating audiences and receiving a standing ovation from their audience. Later she would repeat this incredible performance on both Funhouse Tours and Truth About Love Tours.

The song itself was a ballad about finding happiness and taking risks, with lyrics like: “Glitter in the air, my heart’s so full of love / It’s like a dream come true.” Musically it features piano accompaniment and drum beats with Pink singing over top; her performance became an instant classic and is considered one of the best Grammy performances to date.

Pink used her acceptance speech to thank her fans and discuss being an inspirational role model for young girls. She discussed the significance of supporting and celebrating females within society while being part of such an unforgettable night in music history.

Pink won five Grammy awards over her career, including three for her sophomore album Missundaztood. She received 19 nominations overall and her 2002 victory for “Lady Marmalade”, co-written and performed with Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliott, Mya and Lil’ Kim is one of her proudest accomplishments.

Rolling Stone Magazine recently published an article entitled, “The 25 Greatest Grammy Performances Ever,” but one performer was noticeably missing: Pink. To respond to this omission, she took to Instagram in response to criticize Rolling Stone magazine for “selling out.” Check out her hilarious rant below about her “Glitter in the Air” performance as well as more photos from past awards shows!
