Turkey Trots are an effective way to work up an appetite before enjoying an extravagant Thanksgiving meal, raise funds for local charities and earn you some awesome turkey-centric swag! Thanksgiving has quickly overtaken Independence Day as one of the most popular days for running races – whether you prefer family-friendly fun runs or competitive 5Ks there will surely be one that suits you perfectly!

The Dana Point Turkey Trot is an annual, flat course around beautiful Dana Point Harbor that includes a costume contest and health and wellness expo, plus a one-mile kids Gobble Wobble for children. Although admission to this free event is welcome, participants are strongly encouraged to donate non-perishable food items for Manna Food Center’s Smart Sack program – providing weekend meals to 2,850 Montgomery County school children, such as peanut butter jars, boxes of granola bars or instant oatmeal.

Orange County hosts many family fun runs, Turkey Trots, and 5Ks throughout the year that aim to get kids excited about fitness – such as Dino Dash! Others support charity while providing an exciting challenge; so there is something here for everyone and it is an effective way to get in shape!

Lake Norman is located within four counties: Mecklenburg and Iredell on its eastern edge; Lincoln and Catawba to its north; Troutman and Sherrills Ford in its less dense areas to its west; covering 32,475 acres with 520 miles of shoreline squiggly between them and offering year-round activities to both locals and visitors alike.
