A Look at Australian Actor Heath Ledger

In a way, Heath Ledger was like a super star. He’s been nominated for an Academy Award for his role as The Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’. It wasn’t surprising, considering the way he acted in films such as ‘Brokeback Mountain’. Throughout his career, he portrayed a wide variety of characters, and was known to take on roles that truly defined him.

Before becoming an actor, Heath Ledger was a talented drama student. He gave his first performance in the play “Peter Pan” at the age of 10. He played a fictional character, Robbie Clark, in the film Lords of Dogtown (2007). As a child, he had a kangaroo as a pet. But when he was teenager, he began to pursue a more serious career. During that time, he also gained two half sisters.

While at school, he was a member of the Kalamunda Field Hockey team. He won the Western Australia junior chess championship at the age of ten. However, he declined a chance to participate in the State U-17 field hockey team.

His acting mentor was Mel Gibson. He had also auditioned for a role in a film called ‘Sweat’, which featured a group of young athletes who had dreams of competing in the Olympic Games. Instead, he was offered a small part in the film ‘Paws’. This role was meant to cash in on Nathan Cavaleri’s success.

When he was younger, Heath wore his hair in short, buzz cuts, but he eventually let it grow longer. He also added facial hair to his appearance. Eventually, he developed the physical appearance of a Joker. For his role, he worked with costume designer Lindy Hemming to create the right look.

Heath’s natural hair color is blonde. But in ‘The Dark Knight’, he grew his hair darker and dyed it green. Also, he was inspired by a Francis Bacon painting for the look of his make-up.

Among the many awards he’s received, Heath won an Academy Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his role as The Joker. He’s been nominated for a BAFTA Award, as well. At the same time, he was named by Empire magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Movie Stars of 2007. Despite his death, Heath Ledger has made his mark as an actor.

Upon his death, his ashes were scattered in Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth. He was also buried at the Hollywood Cemetery in Los Angeles. Although his name was not inscribed on his tombstone, his initials were inscribed on his wrist.

Although Heath’s acting skills were excellent, his true passion was photography. He took pictures of suits, ties, and costumes during his work. He also created music videos for his friends, including Ben Harper and N’fa Forster Jones.

Heath’s death cast a somber shadow over the subsequent promotion of ‘The Dark Knight’. However, the actor did leave behind his daughter. Her name is Matilda Rose. She looks very much like Heath. Moreover, she’s reportedly being compared to him, and has also been photographed with him.
