The Son of a Black Man Killed by Police in Baton Rouge on Sunday

A 15-year-old son of a black man shot dead by police in Baton Rouge has spoken out publicly for the first time and described his father as being an upstanding individual, urging protesters not to resort to violence during demonstrations. Unfortunately, no information on their father has been made public at this time.

Baton Rouge police officers were attacked with gunfire on Sunday, further heightening tension in the United States following recent killings by law enforcement of various officers as well as their fatal shooting of unarmed black men by law enforcement. Media have identified Gavin Long, 29, as being involved and has since been taken into custody by authorities.

Police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s capital city, have made two arrests related to a mass shooting at a nightclub that left 12 other individuals wounded earlier this year. Nikeal Franklin and Jy’Shaun Jackson both age 19 have been charged with 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
