Port St Lucie News – Bicyclist Hit by Car While on a Bicycle Today

According to a Port St. Lucie, Florida news report, a pedestrian was hit by a car while on a bicycle today. The 17-year-old victim was riding west on Triumph Road when the car struck him. The driver of the car, Linda Haggerty, had a green light when she crossed the street. The bicyclist, Adolf Lemp, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is being investigated as a traffic homicide.

Police in Port St. Lucie responded to the scene of the crash around 5 p.m. Thursday. The driver of the vehicle that collided with the pedestrian was not seriously injured. The driver of the other vehicle was also hurt, but his injuries were not life-threatening. The accident remains under investigation by Traffic Homicide Investigators. The driver of the other car, a 71-year-old man, was not identified at this time.

The Port St. Lucie police department estimates that more than 3,000 crashes occurred in the county last year, causing 2,113 injuries and 42 fatalities.
