Penelope is voiced by Janet Waldo, who has a long history in films such as The Jetsons and The Smurfs.

Penelope’s car outfits have changed a little from her previous appearances in the cartoon series. She now has red lipstick and white sclerae. She has also added magenta pilot helmets. The rest of her outfit consists of a hot pink jacket with a matching belt, a long magenta scarf, and red pants and boots. Her gloves are white instead of purple.

Penelope has to fight off the villain, Sylvester Sneeky, and his team of bullies, including the ominous Chug-a-Boom. But the Anthill Mob comes to her rescue and saves the day. Chug-a-Boom and Anthill Mod provide voice-overs. In the 2017 version, Penelope has some impressive martial arts skills.

The movie is set in the early 20th century and spoofs silent movies. Penelope Pitstop is an heiress protected by the Ant Hill Mob. However, the hooded claw, Sylvester Sneekly, sets death traps for her, but Penelope always manages to escape. Eventually, Penelope is rescued and the series continues.
