Homer Glen Barbie Museum

A lavish Homer Glen mansion featuring a Barbie doll museum and palm trees flown in each summer has sold for just under $5 million, setting a record price in this southwest Chicago suburb. It includes outdoor spaces like an inviting poolside cabana featuring two-story jacuzzi tub surrounded by columns and topped off by an extravagant chandelier.

Home to an intriguing basement inspired by parts of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, with arched doorways and thatched-roof awnings; additionally there is a pink-walled gallery where former owners displayed their Barbie collection, estimated by listing agent to number hundreds.

Bill and Doreen Shaheen purchased the land for $750,000 in 2006 according to Will County records, then completed construction of their house and 20-car garage by 2012. When first listed for sale in July 2021 for nearly $6 Million it was then reduced by Wilczek down to 5.5 Million before listing again this spring.
