Fernando Tatis Jr. – Adidas Shoes Celebrate Their Stars

Fernando Tatis is an undisputed five-tool player and one of the most promising prospects in baseball. With the potential to be an MVP candidate, he can play an essential role on both sides of the plate. Furthermore, his flashy and dynamic defensive play could be key components in Padres’ future success.

He inked a massive 14-year contract with the Padres in 2021 and is widely regarded as one of baseball’s biggest stars. He’s been featured in multiple product activations and even launched his own signature shoe with Adidas last year.

Adidas has taken notice of young athletes like him and has taken steps to honor their contributions to society. To commemorate these unique individuals, Adidas has collaborated with several renowned athletes to release a series of collaborative sneakers designed by each individual that celebrate their unique influence within their communities.

The first release featured six-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard (NMD_R1 V2), Super Bowl Champion and MVP Patrick Mahomes II (ZX 2K Boost) and Atlanta Hawks Star Point Guard Trae Young (The Forum Low Trae Young). These launches are the latest in Adidas-designed shoes honoring their stars both on- and off-the-field.

Tatis made a name for himself during his tenure with the Padres, finishing third in National League Rookie of the Year voting and signing an impressive contract that he believed would propel him into superstardom. But in August he was suspended 80 games after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

Not only has this suspension caused chaos to his career, but it has also left him with significant off-field damage. After his suspension was announced, many signs featuring Tatis’ image were taken down from Petco Park and a promotional bobblehead day was cancelled.

He’s also missed out on potential endorsement opportunities with brands like Gatorade and Dairy Queen. It is unclear how much money he will lose due to this suspension, but it is expected that he won’t be able to maximize his massive payday once it ends.

Unfortunately, Tatis was forced to endure such a suspension. He is an incredibly gifted player with the potential for future Hall of Fame induction, yet his actions have led to this unfortunate circumstance and placed him in an uncertain future.

His family’s support has enabled him to pursue his aspirations. They’ve always encouraged him to believe in himself and continue to guide him along the way.

adidas wanted to pay tribute to Tatis’ roots and family support by releasing the Ultraboost 2.0 Fernando Tatis Jr., a colorway inspired by Dominican sunsets that symbolizes their dedication to seeing him succeed. The shoe will be available beginning Wednesday, November 24 at Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Footaction and Eastbay locations nationwide.
