How to Get a Dream Team Autographed Basketball

The 1992 USA Men’s Olympic Basketball Team, affectionately known as “Dream Team,” is widely considered to be basketball’s greatest team ever. This elite squad featured Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, John Stockton and Clyde Drexler; they went undefeated throughout the games to capture gold with an average margin of 44 points per game.

Dream team autographed basketballs are among the most sought-after pieces of sports memorabilia worldwide, due to their legendary lineup featuring some of the biggest names in basketball with an intense competitive spirit and drive for victory at all costs. With such high demand comes an intense desire to own this piece of sports memorabilia from this legendary squad.

Dream Team autographed basketballs can be obtained, but you will need to be willing to spend some money. The first step is getting it authenticated which costs at least $150 and should be done prior to selling the ball. There are also auction houses that accept balls for consignment and pay a commission on what they sell for.

Another option is having it autographed privately by a certified expert. Although this will cost an extra fee, it’s worth investing in the long run as they will provide an accurate appraisal of the authenticity of your ball and help avoid any future hassle.

Other sources for dream team autographed basketballs include auctions, sports cards and hobby stores. On Friday at Lelands Auction House in Toronto, a 1992 USA Dream Team basketball signed by all members except ex-Golden State Warriors shooting guard Chris Mullin sold for $21,456 at an auction. It featured Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and eight other members of the Dream Team including assistant coaches Mike Krzyzewski and Lenny Wilkens.

These signed basketballs are highly sought-after and come with a full letter certificate of authenticity from JSA. Many signatures even feature framing, making them highly collectible pieces of memorabilia.

Dream Team autographed jerseys can be found for sale online, though these can be harder to locate. These are the jerseys that the Dream Team wore during the Olympics and usually signed by only their most prominent members.

The Dream Team has become a popular theme for sports card sets, with several brands including Panini including it in several sets such as 2014-15 Panini Eminence and 2015-16 National Treasures.

Panini also released a 62-card Hoops set featuring the Dream Team, along with several other USA Basketball cards and some puzzle cards. Furthermore, images of the Dream Team have appeared on products such as 1991-92 SkyBox and 2010-11 Upper Deck Hoops.
