Kaeita Rankin Texas Lawyers Allege Hostess Was Racist

Kaeita Rankin, a businesswoman with a doctorate in pharmaceutical science, was visiting New York City with her niece Tyonnie Keshay Rankin and assistant Sally Lewis on business when they were confronted by an employee at Carmine’s Italian Restaurant. When the three women didn’t have proof that they had been vaccinated according to NYC’s vaccine policy, the hostess began argumentating with them instead.

Justin Moore, an attorney for Rankin, reported that the hostess used a racial slur against them and spoke condescendingly to them. She also suggested the vaccination cards were fakes, according to Moore’s account in The New York Times.

The hostess attempted to leave the restaurant with a few people seated nearby, but several women kept coming back. According to security footage reviewed by The New York Times, they joined men outside and started fighting.

According to The Times, one of the women filmed was an unidentified young woman wearing white. She held a glass of water and bottle of orange juice as she spoke.

Sally Rechelle Lewis, 49 of Houston, was wearing a blue dress with white stripes and a yellow bow in her hair. Although she is unidentified in the video, it appears she stands behind the hostess.

She is a tall, thin woman with long black hair. She is single, without children.

Kaeita Rankin and her associates were arrested on assault charges by the New York Police Department, but their attorney, Justin Moore, claimed they had been victimized by racism. He stated that she used a racial slur as well as making offensive remarks about her “dark skinned” guests, according to The New York Times.

Moore noted that this wasn’t the first time the Rankins had been harassed. After their altercation, they received numerous death threats and calls; additionally, they have been falsely accused of racism – an assertion which is completely false.

The Rankins, both from Humble, Texas, were in New York to attend an event and stopped at the restaurant as their first stop. When the hostess asked for their vaccination cards, they proudly showed them off.

No matter their efforts to have their cards and identification verified, the Rankins were ultimately turned away from the restaurant. A manager eventually had them escorted out by a manager and taken away for medical treatment at a hospital, according to The Times.
