Jordan was inspired by Jordan’s cultural influences and community as well as his devotion to Naruto when designing this groundbreaking creative collaboration, led by Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. Under Vevers’s direction, this unisex ready-to-wear, footwear and bag collection blends Coach craftsmanship with Jordan’s appreciation of functional fashion as well as graphic codes from Naruto – creating something truly groundbreaking in design terms!
This collection takes place in Tokyo and Williamsburg, Brooklyn and connects their styles through outerwear, ready-to-wear and leather goods. BAPE’s Ape Head logo fuses seamlessly with Coach’s signature pattern of camouflage, khaki and rainbow jacquard for the co-branded jacket modeled by Jordan. She also stars in an original film directed by Rachel Morrison from Black Panther and shot on location in Tokyo that moves between modern-day reality and magical realism depicting connections that foster understanding between people.
As his roles in Creed, Fruitvale Station and (as Killmonger in Black Panther) may reveal, Jordan is an avid anime fan. Citing Naruto and Dragonball Z as two of his favorites, which inspired this capsule collection of backpacks to utility packs and hybrid sneaker boots featuring imagery of characters from these series as well as its trademark “eye” motif reimagined with Coach’s Retro C graphic motifs resemblances.
