Chappaqua Memorial Day Parade

Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton Attend Chappaqua Memorial Day Parade

New Yorkers honored America’s fallen veterans on Memorial Day through parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and other commemorations. Residents gathered in John Paul Jones Park in Brooklyn to witness an event aboard the retired aircraft carrier USS Intrepid; while in Saratoga New Yorkers commemorated two battles that played out during America’s Revolutionary War.

Hillary and Bill Clinton made an uplifting appearance at Chappaqua Memorial Day parade on Monday morning, an annual tradition in Westchester County town which includes their home of Chappaqua Hamlet. Walking alongside New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in white-and-blue outfits while sporting American flag umbrellas to protect from raindrops was all the former first couple could muster as spectators cheered and took pictures. Spectators also cheered them along their route.

At 10:40 a.m. in Victory Corners (King Street & Bedford Road), the parade will commence and head along King Street towards Memorial Plaza for a ceremony at the World War II monument. From Ridgewood Terrace at 11:30 am on, another section of Bedford Road will lead the procession back toward Memorial Plaza where another ceremony will be held at its train station site for another Memorial Plaza commemoration ceremony.

Since 1944, the City of Rockville Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade has been an annual tribute to those who have defended or sacrificed for our freedoms. Each year the parade honors one or more local veterans or active military as its Grand Marshal; over 50 units including military and community groups as well as marching units and dance troupes take part.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will start promptly at 11 am and continue rain or shine. To make sure they can witness all the action, spectators are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks as seating will be limited. Paid parking in Rockville Town Square garage off Route 355/NW Washington Street from 7 a.m.-3 p.m is $5; regular Town Square rates apply all other times.

This event marks the annual Memorial Day Parade held by the City of Lake Success and open to all community organizations, followed by a service at Village Hall Cemetery. Starting from Boniface Circle and moving along Mamaroneck Road, it will then turn left onto Beall Avenue before right onto Maryland Avenue through Rockville Town Square before finally turning left onto E Montgomery Ave and ending up at Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Field and Track – for more information please call 914-946-5464
