Car Accident in Damariscotta, Maine, Shut Down One Lane of Traffic Yesterday
A car accident in Damariscotta, Maine, shut down one lane of traffic in the town yesterday afternoon. Multiple people were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Police say speed was not a factor. Police won’t release the names of victims until they have notified their family.
A car carrying a group of teenagers went off the road and struck a driveway. The car became airborne and crashed into a few trees. Two 16-year-olds and one 19-year-old were killed in the crash. The police are investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor.
The accident was attended to by South Berwick Police, Fire, and York Ambulance. A 2013 Subaru Impreza collided on Main Street with a 2014 BMW 3 Series. According to reports, the Subaru driver crossed the center line and was facing South when the accident occurred. A second vehicle, a 2018 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 38-year-old Newmarket man, was not involved in the crash.
