How Ben Hampton made his mark on Fine Art

As a self-taught artist, Ben Hampton began submitting his artwork to local galleries. His first piece was an acrylic painting of Claude’s Creek that was accepted into one of Hunter Gallery’s annual shows.

He rapidly developed into an accomplished local artist, selling reproductions of his realistic paintings throughout Chattanooga. His artworks have been exhibited in 46 states and three foreign countries, with pieces included in the permanent collections of multiple museums.

His paintings often depict subjects familiar to him from fishing trips in and around Harrison. Additionally, his art draws inspiration from South Carolina’s landscape and wildlife.

Hampton served as assistant football coach at West Rowan for three seasons before taking over the North Rowan position in 2019. Following graduation from Catawba College in 2002, he attended Coastal Carolina University and was part of David Bennett’s first recruiting class.

Hampton has made a lasting impact on the rugby league game, representing Australia and Melbourne in the NRL. He has played as a fullback, five-eighth, and utility player. Furthermore, as a Queensland representative he was selected to captain their Under-20s team.
