Alanis Morissette has certainly been hitting the gym hard as evidenced by her toned torso when out and about this week. The 39-year-old singer from Ironic was seen out and about in Brentwood on Thursday where she turned heads with her toned arms and general fitness physique. Keeping things casual, she donned a black Nike vest to take full advantage of a sunny day – currently gearing up for her Jagged Little Pill tour she appeared happy and relaxed while out and about.

Alanis Morrissette’s 1995 album Jagged Little Pill captured the collective angst of its time, yet her songwriting remains poignant today. Fans of all ages continue to enjoy its sound; now Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody has taken her songs and created a musical from them that is already connecting with new audiences.

The musical depicts the Healy family, an idyllic suburban American unit which is disintegrating. Their father is an overworked attorney; their son has difficulty in school; while Mary Jane, their mother, is nearing mental breakdown.

One of the key aspects of the musical is its focus on confronting issues like depression and domestic violence directly, unlike many media reports do. Instead, these topics become part of its narrative, helping audiences connect with characters and understand their struggles more fully.

The show explores an often taboo subject in music industry – the stomach pumping myth. According to this legend, famous musicians, usually Rod Stewart or Elton John, fell over after drinking too much semen and needed their stomachs pumped to remove excess sperm from their system.
