Wyland Gomes Hanford
Wyland Gomes, a young man, tragically died on March 2, 2020. He was the son of Christy and Ed Camara and Joseph and Jania Gomes. He is also the nephew of Cody, Anthony and Blake Cantwell. He is the great grandson of Darrel Holder and his parents are Jania and Joe Gomes. Wyland’s family would like to thank the community for their support.
Police say Gomes was not suicidal. He was allowed to supervise his son and purchase a legal handgun. Hanford Police say Gomes was allowed to own the gun legally after his mental health had been cleared. The candlelight vigil organizers began planning it yesterday. It quickly grew into an enormous event. Police have announced that they will put the officers on administrative leave and conduct a wellness check with a psychologist.
During his psychiatric evaluation, Christy Gomes and Victor were restrained by a court order. Victor was found to have suicidal thoughts, but the mother retained visitation rights. Hanford Police Department personnel seized the hombre’s handgun. They have also facilitated the interchanging of Wyland’s custody. Despite the tragic nature of this incident, Gomes’ family has paid tribute to him.
He attended Kings River Hardwick Elementary and was an active member of the school’s community. He made friends quickly and easily, and related well to teachers. Wyland was a friend to all. He was loved by everyone who met him for his infectious smile and natural curiosity. He was always willing to help a child in need. In memory of Wyland Gomes, we are organizing a Thursday Night Market in his memory. The proceeds from the event will benefit the children in the community. Christy Camara, the market’s owner, will receive a portion of the proceeds. Donate today and help support the cause. You can also donate to the event or purchase a ticket to the Thursday Night Marketplace. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Christy Camara and the family.
