TYCO Slot Cars
If you love vintage slot cars, TYCO has a wide variety of them for you to choose from. Their newest additions to the TYCO slot car lineup include the 440X2 and the 1965 Corvette Stingray Hardtop. They also offer a variety of accessories for these classic cars.
In the 1967 TYCO slot car catalog, there were four new models and about a dozen previous releases. They included the 1930 Ford Hot Rod Roadster and the 1934 Ford Pickup Truck. In the 1968 and 1969 TYCO slot car catalog, there were only two new models: the Jagauar XK-E and the Corvette Sting Ray. However, the Buick Riviera and Pontiac Grand Prix were no longer listed.
The slot car craze began in the early 1960s, when Tyco introduced their line of HO-scale cars. They began selling slot cars alongside their HO-scale Model Trains. TYCO continued to produce slot cars up until 1997, when they were purchased by Mattel. These days, TYCO Slot Cars are known as TYCO R/C.
In addition to slot cars, they also make the popular US-1 trucks. The company was one of the first to produce radio-controlled slot trucks. After acquiring the View-Master/Ideal Group, Tyco expanded into other categories such as airplanes, Sesame Street, and dolls. They also bought the Matchbox toy company in 1993.
There are many different tracks available for Tyco slot cars. Some are designed for one or two cars to race at once. The tracks are made of either plastic or routed material to allow for flexibility in layouts and to make racing smoother. You can choose which track will be most suitable for your skill level.
