Titanic Car Scene
The Titanic Car Scene
Although you may be able recall the Titanic car scene, do you know what type of car it was? Perhaps you vaguely recall that it was in the cargo holds during the maiden voyage. You might recall the glass rose that slides down from the car’s side, or the foggy windows if you have seen the movie.
It was a 1912 Renault Type CB Coupe de Ville. William Carter, an heir to a large iron and coal fortune, owned it. William had purchased it while touring Europe with his family. Both the car’s maid and his wife were able to board the boat and survived. J. Bruce Ismay was the chairman and managing direct of the White Star Line. The last passenger who travelled in the Titanic was a wealthy man named Augustus Aldworth. He was able to bring his maid along in the car, which was a luxurious and stylish vehicle.
Although the car was never photographed, many expeditions have tried to find it. However, with 107 years under its belt, it’s likely that the car is not worth much. Despite its price, it would be a priceless piece of art if it were found. It would surely fetch a high price in a museum, but what if you could see the actual car that survived such a long voyage?
One scene from Titanic’s car chase is so iconic that it has become a staple of movie trivia. Although it was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, it is not considered one of the best movies ever made. Its plot and characters are too predictable, making the movie less memorable. Perhaps James Cameron had in mind to tell the story of Jacqueline instead of Jack.
