The 24 Year Old Go Getter

Martin Hynes directed The Go-Getter, an American independent road movie that was released in 2007. Lou Taylor Pucci plays Mercer, a young man who has just stolen a car to tell his half brother that his mother has died. Mercer is forced to steal the car because he has no other choice but to do so. He soon forms an unusual friendship with Kate (Zooey deschanel), a young, spirited actress.

M.J. Hynes’ real-life experiences inspired the plot of the film. She once took a roadtrip after her mother died. Hynes wrote the script and then went on the road to test it. M. Ward’s soulful indie song is the soundtrack to the film. In addition to a powerful performance by Hynes and a great cast, the film has an interesting musical score by M. Ward.
