Taylor Ceepo Cause Of Death

Taylor Ceepo, 22, Died at the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on May 19

Sometimes great runners and athletes die abruptly during a marathon for no apparent reason. That was the case for 22-year-old Taylor Ceepo, a recent graduate of Walsh University in North Canton who was training to enter medical school when she died on May 19 during the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon.

It was a sad ending to a day of running for Ceepo, a Medina native who graduated this spring from Walsh and played soccer. It was the first time she had ever run a full marathon, but she had trained and was prepared to compete.

She died at the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on Sunday, according to a statement from University Hospitals. She collapsed less than a mile from the finish line and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Fox 8 Cleveland reports. It was the second death in the marathon’s 42-year history, and race director Jack Staph said he and the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office were “deeply saddened” by the news.

The Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s offices released a statement Friday that Ceepo died from “sudden cardiac death in association with physical exertion, pseudoephedrine use and cardiomyopathy.” It said her manner of death was ruled an accident.

Ceepo was a biology major and minored in psychology and chemistry at Walsh, where she also starred on the women’s soccer team. She graduated with honors this spring and was preparing to begin her career in medicine, a longtime goal of hers.

Friends and teammates of Ceepo’s were devastated by her death, but the community has come together to remember her and celebrate her life. Members of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron gathered at the school’s football field to remember the young woman who was a four-year starter for the Irish, and the school held a memorial Mass on campus that evening.

Her family has urged those who knew her to keep her memory alive, and there are a few ways you can help. You can donate to a cause that she cared about, or you can send flowers and other tributes in her memory.

You can also share her memory and support her family by sharing a photo of her on social media. It’s a great way to show your support and bring her to the forefront of people’s minds.

There are many different ways you can remember Ceepo, and she was a bright, compassionate person who would always be happy to see her friends. Her friends say she loved life, and always wanted to do something to help others.

In honor of her memory, there is a special fund at the Cleveland Foundation that has been created to help support causes she cared about. You can make a donation online at the link below.
