Sheik Tugboat

Sheik Tugboat

The Sheik Tugboat was a concept that was first discussed during the World Championship Wrestling era. It was created by Vince McMahon, who had hoped Tugboat would become a heel and reinvent himself as a sheik. However, Vince McMahon changed his mind. The idea of a heel Sheik Tugboat was dropped, and instead, Hulk Hogan was scheduled to face Sgt. Slaughter, and Tugboat was left out of the match.

The gimmick that Tugboat had developed in his early career was the fact that he was too large to fit in a car. He wrestled for FOW and WXO, and had the gimmick that he was too big to get out of a car. He was first seen wrestling as Typhoon and later aligned with Earthquake to form the team known as The Natural Disasters. In 1992, the team won the WWF World Tag Team Championships from Money Inc. The team lost the titles three months later.

Fred Ottman is a huge fan of pro wrestling and has portrayed many gimmicks over his career. He has played the Tugboat, Typhoon, and the Shockmaster. He tries to take advantage of every opportunity he gets. The Sheik Tugboat role was something he wanted to do, and the role was one he enjoyed.

In the beginning, Vince was considering a match between Hulk Hogan and Sheik Tugboat. The poster he saw had both wrestlers as the biggest stars of the company. Vince was also considering a possible heel match with Sarge, and the Sheik Tugboat came to mind.

Tugboat Thomas was a controversial character in the early days of the WWF. Hulk Hogan endorsed the character and trained him. He had a gimmick that was similar to that of a modern-day Popeye character. He screamed “toot, toot” during matches. The character’s name was originally “Tugboat Tyler” but it was changed to “Tugboat Thomas” to avoid confusion with the famous Tugboat Taylor.
