Mark Paul Gosselaar Grows a Beard

Mark-Paul Gosselaar made teenage girls swoon as Zack Morris on the hit sitcom Saved by the Bell, which aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993. With its quirky cast and charismatic Morris, it became a cult favorite; earning Gosselaar three Young Artist Award nominations and one win.

Gosselaar has been featured on numerous television shows since the ’90s, such as NYPD Blue and Raising the Bar. Additionally, he made guest appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Weeds.

He is married to Catriona McGinn and they have two children, Dekker (son) and Lachlyn (daughter). Recently, he attended the 22nd annual Taste for the Cure charity event, looking dapper in a classic navy suit complete with tie and dark brown dress shoes for this formal affair.

The actor has taken on a new role on television that’s quite different from his past work. He stars in Pitch, Fox’s new drama about the first female pitcher in Major League Baseball and looks completely unrecognizable from his former blond-haired alter ego from the ’90s.

Gosselaar recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight about growing his beard for the role of Mike Lawson, catcher for the San Diego Padres in Pitch. He explained that he wanted to appear more “bearded and beefy” for this role.

His latest TV project is an exciting milestone in his career, he revealed to ET. It’s his biggest role yet and it has already become a career highlight. Additionally, Michael, 12, expressed that he is already thinking about pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.

Gosselaar has always had an affinity for sports; as a teenager he excelled at race car driving, track cycling and dirt biking. Additionally, Gosselaar earned his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt under Rigan Machado.

He is a father of two and has been married to actress Catriona McGinn for 14 years. Together they have one 12-year-old son, Michael, who dreams of becoming an actor one day.

His family is actively involved in their community, with him frequently attending charity events alongside his wife and children to raise funds for local organizations. Additionally, he’s worked closely with organizations such as Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles and Ronald McDonald House.

Gosselaar, who is known for his acting career, has also modeled for brands such as Oreo and Smurf merchandise. A proud father, Gosselaar aims to motivate his son by providing him with the resources necessary to succeed in the entertainment industry.

Gosselaar still prioritizes spending quality time with his family and adores his son Michael. He describes the 12-year-old as being “very into arts and sports” – something Gosselaar is happy to help foster in pursuit of his ambition of becoming an actor.

Thankfully, the actor is married to Catriona, a stunning and supportive wife he wed in 2012 at Sunstone Winery in California. Together they have two young children and reside in Santa Clarita Valley. Despite their distances, the couple remains close and enjoys spending time together.
