Kyrie Black And Green
The Nike Kyrie Black Pays Tribute to Andy Grass
Kyrie Irving has become one of the NBA’s most beloved stars due to his feisty handles and ability to hit seemingly impossible layups, earning him widespread respect among his peers. Off the court, however, Kyrie has shown off impeccable style through Nike’s signature Kyrie lines which display his distinctive aesthetic preferences.
Irving’s sneakers not only pay tribute to his favorite cities and moments, but many also honour some of basketball’s most legendary athletes. For instance, this 2021 Kyrie 7 iteration takes inspiration from KD 4’s “Weatherman” design; featuring bold green mesh upper with topographical map motif on sock liner and heel; plus it honors Andy Grass (Olympic gymnast who was crushed by log at beach in 2021 resulting in collapsed lungs which required recovery assistance at Doernbecher hospital staffers).
The 2017 Kyrie 4 was designed by Irving’s senior footwear designer Benjamin Nethongkome as their inaugural collaboration. They chose a 90s-inspired silhouette with features such as dynamic traction patterning and midfoot support strapping for midfoot movement. Their goal was to produce something innovative while paying homage to past styles – they sought to update original models while improving details for improved fit on feet.
Nike’s “BHM” collection pays homage to black history month with special colorways of popular shoes. One such Kyrie 4 was unveiled for this event in January 2018 featuring white midsole with “Equality” written on its sidewalls, black accents and gold branding to complete its look.
Nike joined forces with Boston-based retailer CONCEPTS to release an exclusive Kyrie 4s, inspired by sandcastle building. Together they created a shoe which is both traditional and completely unique: featuring a kelly green base color adorned with drips of Swoosh logo application for an organic slimy effect on its rubber outsole.
BHM collection featured this pair of sneakers to commemorate racial equity. The shoe aimed to highlight the significance of having an inclusive workforce while reflecting equality as something to strive for in real life rather than simply as an ideal.
Kyrie Irving’s love of his hometown, Brooklyn, can be seen not only through his shoes but also his apparel offerings – hoodies and pants that show their Brooklyn pride are just two pieces that showcase this look in his attire lineup; pair this look with matching sneakers for an eye-catching ensemble on both streets or arena floors.
