Judge Judy, star of America’s most-watched daytime television show, has been wearing a black robe since early April. The 72-year-old prosecutor known for her strict but fair approach in court has been taking a break to relax at her Naples, Florida home while celebrating retirement from the show. Recently she spoke with THR about her plans for retirement, the fascination surrounding her public salary and what frustrates her most about American legal system.
Judge Sheindlin’s Most Important Role As A Judge
In a recent interview, she told reporters her most important role as a judge is to guarantee justice for her clients. This responsibility is something she takes very seriously.
Over the course of her legal career, she has presided over multiple types of cases – civil disputes and criminal proceedings alike – as well as divorce and adoption cases.
Sheindlin is the founder and president of the Women’s Judges Association, which offers educational seminars and support for female judges across America and abroad. As such, she holds two distinct offices: a state judgeship and federal judgeship.
Her career has allowed her to collaborate and meet some of the biggest names in entertainment. She’s held hands with Barbara Walters and Cyndi Lauper, plus got a hug from Samuel L. Jackson at his 70th birthday party last January.
The judge is renowned for her bikini-bod, which she proudly displayed during a recent vacation to the Bahamas. Her 155ft rental yacht, purchased for $16 million, serves as an opulent vacation property.
In her latest video, the judge shared photos from her trip with her family and a joyous collection of moments from her birthday on October 21st – which also happened to be her 37th wedding anniversary with husband Jerry Sheindlin. She even showed off her bikini body in a two-piece swimsuit and joked that this may be the last time she wears one like it.
She looks amazing in her bikini and she’s proud of it. However, as she ages, she plans to do her best to maintain the health and fitness of her bikini body.
When asked her favorite part of being a judge, she replied that it was seeing the people she could assist. Additionally, she enjoyed making people feel better about themselves and their lives.
Sheindlin was a passionate supporter of her own opinions, often challenging those around her to consider alternative viewpoints. When expressing disapproval with rulings made by fellow judges, Sheindlin never wavered; always standing up for what she believed in and never backing down from speaking up when needed.
Sheindlin has served as a New York state judge since 1989 and has extensive experience in criminal defense. Her first appointment to the bench occurred in 1989, and she has held it ever since.
