Indiana Highway Patrol Closes I-64 After Deadly Accident
Police in Spencer County say a car that crossed into westbound traffic on I-64 led to a fatal accident, killing one person at the scene near 60 mile marker on Friday around 4 pm. Authorities towed away the vehicle from the scene but have released no details regarding victims of this tragedy.
At the accident site, all lanes of interstate were closed following a crash and drivers should use alternate routes for their trip. Due to a roadblock being set up near the scene of this wreck, drivers will remain off of interstate but can use nearby bypass as an alternate route for travel.
Officials reported that a man riding his bicycle eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 died when struck by a truck that lost control on its left side and struck him, officials stated. He died instantly while its driver – yet to be named – escaped unharmed from this tragic event.
Tim Lohmar, St. Charles County Prosecutor announced Saturday that an accident which resulted in four fatalities along Interstate 64 on Friday morning is now under criminal investigation for possible drug-related incidents, according to Lohmar’s announcement. His investigation continues into this matter.
ROANOKE, Va. (WAVN) — Northbound lanes of Interstate 81 have been closed following a multivehicle accident near mile marker 202 in Rockbridge County. At this time, state police do not expect any charges to be filed due to the investigation being ongoing.
This roadway is expected to remain closed until at least late Sunday evening, and drivers should use alternate routes as much as possible if possible to bypass it.
Lane restrictions are anticipated to continue until the bridge has been inspected, during which time both eastbound shoulders will be closed in this location and the right lane reduced to single-lane alternating traffic with speed limit set at 35mph.
