Extreme Makeover Home Edition – Marshall Family Update
Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover crew work to transform lives through Extreme Makeover. While some families have appeared before on previous episodes, others may be newcomers. The Extreme Makeover crew assists these families who require either a new home or just want improvements made on their current one; some families have special needs children; some have been touched by tragedy; still others have made positive differences in their communities.
In 2007, The Marshall family from Lyme, New Hampshire was featured on the show. Cameron Marshall had leukemia; it was diagnosed after experiencing 24 bruises within one day and his parents formed the B+4CHaD nonprofit organization (named after his blood type) as they lived in an unsafe home due to mold growth, carbon monoxide leaks and rotting wood – conditions unsafe for his immune system but they lacked funds for necessary repairs.
This episode follows the Marshall family as their home is rebuilt with help from local builders and volunteers from Colby-Sawyer College’s Community Service Club. Hearing about their family’s situation, these students decided to help out by making four round trips across 100 miles four times to work on this project – not only that, but the team also constructs a new barn for Zoe and built her a house as part of this endeavor.
Jacobo Family from Bunker Hill, IN are in need of a new home after taking in their nieces and nephews after their sister could no longer care for them. Living in a tiny converted home they encountered issues with standing water, mold and old electrical wires which made living there uncomfortable – Paula Deen has visited to offer support during this transitional phase as has snowboarder Olympic Gold medalist Shaun White as guest stars! Ultimately they received their new, larger home.
The Heberts of Erie, PA are in need of housing. Both members work as marriage counselors full time while their five daughters strive to become fashion models. Furthermore, their 10-year-old son who was injured during a police raid requires constant assistance due to being wheelchair bound due to severe autism. Their design team surprised the Heberts with a surprise comedy show where guest star comedian Tommy Davidson performed for them!
Trisha Vitale of Lansing, Michigan and her daughter Cora are in desperate need of a home. Trisha’s husband Andy died shortly before Cora was born of a heart attack; since then she has been spreading awareness for both the American Heart Association and Cora’s Hope (a charity dedicated to children with heart defects). Trisha was surprised at a carnival by Mary J. Blige – but this wasn’t their final surprise: their new house will be constructed.
