Virgin Voyages’ Dominican Daze Cruise Line Revealed

Virgin Voyages’ new ship, Scarlet Lady, has begun sailing out of Miami to destinations in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and the Bahamas. However, plans call for adding transatlantic and European sailings as well as two additional ships by 2023 and 2024.

So we decided to experience this all-adult cruise line for ourselves on one of their Caribbean voyages and take part in one of their five-night Dominican Daze cruises on board Scarlet Lady in May – learning a few insights that could prove worthwhile for future voyagers.

Let’s first discuss food onboard Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady cruise ship. Virgin Voyages boasts of having over 20 eateries onboard; however, that number is deceiving as six food stations at its buffet-like “Food Lab” comprise it all. Even so, that figure remains impressive given Scarlet Lady is half the size of some other major cruise lines and includes everything in the base cruise fare price tag.

Though you must pay extra for alcoholic drinks, all other expenses on board will be included as part of the cruise fare, including gratuities to room service servers. This represents a notable departure from how most cruises operate; moreover, it makes tracking spending simple via an app on your phone.

Virgin offers plenty to keep cruise guests occupied onboard their ship, from regular shows and comedy acts to yoga, meditation, HIIT cycling classes and Red Night dancing into the early morning hours – with all these included in your cruise fare – which makes sense when considering that on an average seven-night Caribbean cruise guests could easily spend $500 daily just on drinks alone!

Virgin Cruises stands out from most cruise lines with their no-smoking policy and designated room for smoking off of their casino, rather than throughout the ship. Furthermore, unlike some other lines there are no photographers offering photos for sale or papers delivered directly to cabins detailing offers and freebies around the ship – providing for a much more relaxed environment on board.
