Charlessia Pelt (27 years old) was arrested in connection to the fatal crash on Detroit’s East Side. She was charged with child neglect, reckless driving, operating while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated. Although the crash was horrific, the mother was charged only after a probable cause conference was held. Her next court appearance is Aug. 20 and the family of Michael Jones hopes to resolve the case.
DeSandra’s father, who was arrested, is currently facing charges. The family is now trying to recover from the loss of their child. DeSandra’s heart was pure, and she was doing everything in her power to save her father. To mourn their loss, the family needs financial support. The alleged DUI led to a single-car crash where Sigle, a 26-year-old mother, lost control of her vehicle. The crash killed her five-month-old son and seriously injured six other children, including two girls. Police stated that Sigle’s mother failed to secure her car in order for her son to avoid the impact. The police report revealed that Sigle’s blood alcohol level was 0.163.
WDIV-TV posted video of the minivan’s speed before the crash. The minivan drove past a parked car, and a police cruiser. The minivan ran a red light and ejected the child onto the roadway. The van then rolled over the child, hitting a parked vehicle. The child was declared dead at the hospital.
