The Car in Joe Dirt

When looking at the car in “Joe Dirt”, it’s important to know its history. This 2001 David Spade comedy features a yellow 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona as Joe Dirt’s ride. It’s very clean, but has a rough history, involving its owner’s drug addiction and eventual death from a cocaine and morphine overdose.

The movie is a cult classic and the ’69 Plymouth GTX Hemi convertible is a beautiful piece of art. It echoes the iconic ‘Tommy Boy’ car from the 1995 film. Kid Rock, who plays the town bully, owns another car in the film – a ’79 Pontiac Trans Am with a’screaming bird’ on the hood. There are numerous quotable punchlines in this film, and it’s a great watch.

The movie isn’t your typical car chase movie. In fact, it’s a classic Mopar muscle car movie. It’s a tribute to David Spade’s real-life love of cars. Interestingly enough, Joe Dirt drives a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, which is a classic car.

Another movie with a classic car is “Tommy Boy.” The movie featured multiple 1967 Plymouth GTX convertibles. The production company also used multiple 1967 Plymouth GTX convertibles in the 2001 movie Joe Dirt. Its popularity is a good example of how Hollywood has embraced the classic car.
